TV star Grant Denyer and Richard Barram hospitalised after horrific three-car crash at Bathurst 6 Hour

TV star Grant Denyer was taken to hospital along with Richard Barram on Sunday after the pair were involved in a horrific three-car collision at the Bathurst 6 Hour.

Almost four hours into the race, Denyer’s Class A2 Chevrolet Camaro made contact with Barram’s Class C Volkswagen Sirocco trying to pass at Griffins Bend.

The nudge sent Barram into the side of Matt Kiss’s stationary Class E Mazda, which was sitting helpless on the outside of the corner, before the Scirocco’s front-end clattered into the wall.

The corner had already been a double-waved yellow zone because of the stranded Mazda of Kiss.

Kiss avoided serious injury but Denyer and Barram were both hospitalised.

Barram was taken to Orange Hospital with a suspected ankle injury, while Denyer was transported to Bathurst Hospital with a possible shoulder concern.

Denyer has never been a full-time driver in the Supercars Championship, choosing a career in TV instead, but has competed at various levels in different capacities since as early as 2001.

He partnered Alex Davison to finish ninth at the 2006 Bathurst 1000, and has competed at all but six of the past 20 Bathurst 6 Hour events.

The 48-year-old is yet to provide an update on his condition and whether it will affect his TV commitments.
